Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), 1 February 2018, 39 Russian athletes v. Disciplinary Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC DC)

The dispute concerned the previous decision of the IOC DC to disqualify 43 Russian athletes, confiscate their medals and make them ineligible to participate in all subsequent editions during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, for committing anti-doping rule violations (ADRV).

A CAS procedure was opened for each individual athlete after two of them filed an appeal in December 2017. The CAS declared that in 28 cases, the evidence collected was found to be insufficient to establish that an ADRV was committed by the athletes concerned and that in 11 cases, the evidence collected was found to be sufficient to establish an individual ADRV.
