On 15 March 2018, three texts came into force in order to revise the unified act on arbitration adopted in 1999 by the Organisation pour l’harmonisation en Afrique des droits des affaires (“OHADA”).

These three texts, the Acte uniforme relatif au droit de l’arbitrage, the Acte uniforme relatif à la médiation and the Règlement d’arbitrage de la Cour commune de justice et d’arbitrage, are intended to clarify the existing texts without revising the system. On the other hand, they do not introduce an accelerated procedure for small claims, unlike the CCI, which in 2017 integrated such a procedure by revising its arbitration rules.
