UNCITRAL, 7 July 2017, Sergei Viktorovich Pugachev v. Russian Federation

An interim award dated 7 July 2017 ordered the Russian Federation to formally suspend its request for the extradition of Sergei Pugachev, the newly French citizen and former adviser of President Vladimir Putin, from France. The tribunal however rejected the oligarch’s application for the suspension of the worldwide civil and criminal proceedings against him, stating that he failed to demonstrate any real and specific risks that would justify it.
