ICC, 13 January 2018, Taiwan v. Airbus

In the 1990’s, French companies sold arms, fighter jets and frigates to Taiwan. These different contrats have been the subject of several corruption scandals and generated consistent litigation. The last one was the payment of Matra Defense – of which Airbus is the parent company – of bribes to a local middleman not recognized by the Taiwanese State hence challenged the transaction of unduly undervalued price. The ICC Tribunal granted this request by ordering Airbus to pay €104 millions.
